Dr Sarina Afzali
Clinical Psychologist

I’m a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist who believes that therapy works best when you feel genuinely understood and supported. With over ten years of experience working with adults and children across the lifespan I have particular expertise in supporting people with complex mental health difficulties, dementia care, and challenges related to health difficulties, ageing, and life change.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I take time to understand what has shaped you, what matters most to you, and how your difficulties make sense in the context of your life. Together, we work at a pace that feels right for you.

I am committed to providing a culturally sensitive and reflective space where you can explore difficulties safely, build insight, and move towards greater clarity and wellbeing.

Clinical interests
My clinical interests centre on supporting individuals experiencing emotional distress, psychological complexity, and difficulties arising from life transitions, relationships, and health-related challenges. I am particularly interested in working with anxiety, low mood, identity-related concerns, and the impact of cumulative stress across the lifespan.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and formulation-driven, drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative approaches, and systemic thinking. I work collaboratively with clients to develop a shared understanding of their experiences, enhance psychological flexibility, and support meaningful change that aligns with their values and circumstances.

I am especially interested in therapy that recognises the relational and cultural influences on mental health. My work focuses on creating a reflective and compassionate space in which clients can make sense of their difficulties, strengthen emotional resilience, and move towards a more connected and fulfilling life.
