Dr Olivia Pounds
Clinical Psychologist

I chose a career in psychology, after recognising I am someone who had to find compassion for myself through difficult times, which led me to truly value the importance of understanding and supporting people in my work, irrespective of what they bring to the clinic. Through my own life experiences, such as being largely raised by my non-British grandparents, I have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach to my work, and one that embodies openness and honesty.

I am a highly qualified and chartered Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (PYL043378). I have ten years of experience in the field of Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology, having completed a Masters in Neuroscience, and professional training in Clinical Psychology. My work history has been heavily focused on the specialist area of Clinical Neuropsychology, with interest in both research and clinical developments.

Clinical interests
I work with all neurological conditions, including but not limited to brain injury, dementia, stroke, MS, functional neurological conditions, developmental disorders. I offer specialist and comprehensive assessment of cognitive, emotional and behavioural functioning, and provide feedback and strategies to manage the often intersecting complexities of neurological conditions. I also work indirectly with carers and family members to support with managing challenges associated with neurological conditions, and support with referrals to other specialist areas such as psychiatry and neurology. I provide therapeutic input for those that require psychological support associated with the challenges that may come with neurological conditions. I also tailor psychological support for those with comorbid neurological conditions, but where this is not the primary focus.

My work experience includes running neuropsychological clinics at The National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, St George’s Hospital, Royal Sussex County Hospital, and Hurstwood Park Neuroscience Centre.
